Dr Ram Venkitaraman is a consultant oncologist caring for patients with cancer. Ram areas of expertise include chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormonal therapy and biological therapy. Ram sub-specialises in managing breast cancer and urological cancers.
Ram was trained in oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London, where he also conducted clinical research in the academic uro-oncology unit at the Institute of Cancer Research, London. Ram has been awarded the fellowship in clinical oncology by Royal College of Radiologists and specialist certification in medical oncology by the Royal College of Physicians.
Ram is a Consultant Oncologist at the Ipswich Hospital NHS since June 2009, where he is the clinical lead for radiotherapy and the lead for cancer research.
Ram is the visiting Professor of Oncology at the University of Suffolk with ongoing research projects. Ram has more than 50 publications in peer reviewed journals and presentations in international conferences which have won merit awards. Ram is active in teaching and education, has completed a Masters in medical education and is an examiner for the clinical oncology fellowship of the Royal College.
